Outlook magazine has profiled 42 year old Chandralekha, who has broken the tradition of Nat Purwa, a village near Hardoi, UP where women have always been driven to prostitution, even as men sat around.

Motivated by Magsaysay Award winner Sandeep Pandey's Asha, Chandralekha took to teaching young children in the new primary school. And she has gone places since that break three years ago. She is busy now organising women into self-help groups. About 200 women have joined and many have quit prostitution to become tailors and embroidery workers. Full story and contact information here
