While cricketers rival film stars in adulation and incomes, athletes to the last Commonwealth Games received $20 a day as alowance. Finally, the cricket establishment has been embarrased by its riches.

It has pledged to create a $1 million fund to discover, encourage and monetarily support under-fifteens who show promise as future Olympic athletes. A tiny sum, yes but hopefully just a start.
