Sep 16, 2001 :: Houses to give away

According to a profile in the Week magazine, K N Gopalakrishna Bhatt of Badiadukka, north Kerala, has built and given away 50 pucca houses in the last 6 years. He doesn’t distinguish between Hindus and Muslims. He just can’t bear people without homes. Each of his houses cost Rs 45,000.

Bhatt now 64, is an ayurvedic physician with a huge following. Most of the money he earns goes back to the community. On Sundays he runs medical camps for an average of 600 people. Allopathic and ayurvedic medicines are given away free. Yet, money seems to finds its way to Bhatt; probably because the man puts it to good use.
